I recently came across some rarely seen “new” photos of “The Magic Show” from 1976. A lot of what we see from the production are images taken in 1974 by photographer Kenn Duncan. Many I showed in a previous post a couple years ago, and those photos really gave you a taste of a fresh faced cast taking Broadway by storm.
However, photographer Martha Swope took more pictures two years into the run of the show in 1976. A selection of which I’ll be posting today and into next week, as they recently have resurfaced.
I love this photo on many levels. In a way, it really sums up that period of Doug’s life perfectly. His fame was secured, and the world was his oyster. While “The Magic Show” was what brought him into the public eye, more was to come, and thank goodness for that.
What a great photo.
