This photo hails from Doug fan Jeff Horton and was taken at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT in the mid-1980s. I’ll let Jeff elaborate on the events that led up to this:
“Doug was unable to say hello to a group of magicians outside of the Bushnell theater in Hartford, CT earlier that year (maybe a couple of weeks before?)…
The show at the Bushnell Theater in Hartford was quickly followed by an appearance at Central CT State University in New Britain, CT. Living on campus, I knew this would be my chance…
I was a student at CCSU in New Britain and knew the RV he was traveling in. I simply waited in front of it for Doug…
I’m dressed in a jacket and tie because I had just finished a restaurant gig, and did not even attend the show at Central. But, I was determined to meet a great magician.”
So, there you have it. While Doug did many of these photo ops over his long career, it just goes to show you how he would always do what he could to make a loyal fan happy. Thanks Jeff!
