One of my favorite pictures of Doug comes from late in his career and is featured above. It’s very simple and to the point and, in a way, sums up his whole persona to me. In fact, I like it so much I use it for my “Contact” page here on the site.
So, you can imagine my surprise when collector Michael Whitecar sent me a picture from his Doug costume collection. You guessed it, he owns the very red jumpsuit Doug was wearing that day. Pretty cool if you ask me!
A lot of readers continue to share with me items of Doug that now reside in their collections. It’s always very impressive, and I know that Doug would be happy that these things still have a life. He never wanted his props or illusions to vanish like him after he retired. He was altruistic about everything, and wanted them to go on and on.
