This 2010 clip is from a concert series called “If It Only Even Runs a Minute.” The series itself explores obscure and often overlooked Broadway shows such as, you guessed it, 1974’s “The Magic Show.”
The play, if you already didn’t know, was Doug’s big break into the public spotlight and reignited the public’s fascination with modern magic. Composed by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked), the show’s purity of heart is what still makes it stand out from those who saw its original production all those years ago.
While the soundtrack is still available, you really have to look for it these days. Anyway, enjoy “Solid Silver Platform Shoes.” I know I did.
