And I’m back. Sorry for the bit of delay, but, as I mentioned I’ve been dealing with a pinched nerve in my shoulder and arm. All that combined with some minor physical therapy, required me to step away from the website briefly. However, enough about me.
All this week we will be featuring items from the collection of Chip Romero. As many of you know, Chip is the preeminent collector of all things Doug Henning, and I’m very thankful he has sent me some items to feature on the site.
Today’s pieces is beautiful to behold, and one I’m sure you’ll recognize. The Gazebo Illusion was the finale of 1981’s “World of Magic IV,” and Doug’s switching in place and in costume with the bandleader is still breathtaking to behold.
As you can see, the costume now resides in Chip’s collection, and is in immaculate condition. Chip also lent me a more pristine copy of the clip for us all to see.
As Doug closed that special that evening, “If we live with a sense of wonder, our lives will always be filled with joy!” This costume still speaks volumes to that thought all these years later!
Great piece of nostalgia. Unfortunately, it’s tarnished a bit at the 35-second mark
