On a day that is generally reserved for Harry Houdini, this Halloween “The Doug Henning Project” will be focusing on another “dini,” Tony Slydini.

In his life, Doug had two primary teachers of Magic: Dai Vernon and Tony Slydini. Both were located respectively on the West Coast (Los Angeles) and East Coast (New York City). 

As mentioned yesterday, Doug’s $5000 Canadian Arts Council grant opened up a lot of doors for him. Similar to Vernon, Doug reached out to Slydini with the question of mentorship and, also just like Vernon, the two would eventually become fast friends.

Throughout his life, Doug was the first to always credit his teachers. From the looks of the videos this week he chose wisely.
