The Muppets Take Doug Henning!

While I’ve featured a previous clip of Doug’s 1980 appearance on “The Muppet Show,” you really can’t go wrong with Muppets, Muppets, and more Muppets! This clip, in particular, is notable because it gives us a full performance to marvel over and suggests that maybe The Muppets aren’t always the best magic assistants.

For unknown reasons, Disney has only released the first three seasons of Jim Henson’s landmark variety series. Due to this being in Season Four, a complete episode is difficult to find leaving only several clips available online. But, what clips they are!

It’s time play the music…

  1. Frank Simpson says:

The reasons aren’t really so “unknown”. Each season contains a LOT of music which must be licensed for video release. Also each episode’s guest star, their agents, or estate must agree to terms as well. It is a much larger undertaking than many people realize! In fact, several of the first three seasons’ episodes are the British version of the show rather than the version that originally aired in the US, because of licensing issues. We are still hopeful that one day we’ll see the 4th and 5th seasons released!

  2. I had the honor and the privilege to work for Jim Henson and to meet Doug Henning on several occasions. This is a combination of two of my favorite things in the world!! 😎
