I’d be remiss in not mentioning that the poster artist David Edward Byrd passed away on February 3rd. 

In his career, Byrd was responsible for such legendary theater and concert posters as “Godspell,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Follies,” “Jefferson Airplane,” and “The Jimi Hendrix Experience,” to name a very small few.

However, it is his psychedelic work for “The Magic Show” that will live on in the hearts of Doug fans forever. Without even seeing the show, audiences were drawn to the casual image of Doug’s hippie magician, and the electric imagery of the show itself. 

It’s hard to think of the show without this poster, and the piece it played in its success is immeasurable.
