Th following cover and article hail from the magazine  “Top Hat (1963-1993).”

The magazine itself once served the purpose (at different times) as the Voice of “Magical Youths International,” as well as the official program of the “International Brotherhood of Magicians.” Quite a mouthful to be sure. 

This cover story, featuring an 18 year old Doug, is a great snapshot into where Doug was at that stage in his life. A magical prodigy to be sure, his magical resume up to that point lists fire-eating, juggling, mind reading, and driving blindfolded as his skills. Not the usual skills of your average 18 year old.
