Well, so much for wishful thinking guys.

After speculating (and hoping) last Friday, that the grainy image below may have been a video image from the original Broadway production of “The Magic Show”…

As seen below once again, we are left with the undeniable proof that it isn’t.

What sealed the deal was that some eagle eyed readers pointed out that Doug never wore a vest in the original show, or held a microphone for that matter.

In fact, as can clearly be seen the microphone is actually the saw featured in the “Admired from Afar” music number. Though it’s almost impossible to see it in the black and white image. 

Thank you to the huge amount of fans out there that wrote me with their viewpoints and help. While we don’t really know for sure if an original video version of the show exists or not (possibly not), it’s nice to know the magic community figured out this one.
