I came across these close-up photos of Nathan Lane’s costume from Merlin. They seem to be the costume today, however where it resides is a mystery to me. However, it is good to see that the costume apparently still exists, and is in great condition. Barbara Matera went on to design hundreds of costumes for shows such as Dreamgirls, Mama Mia, The Lion King, and Wicked.
Lane played the character of Prince Fergus who was the son of the evil Queen played by Chita Rivera. Throughout the musical, the Queen is scheming to place Fergus in Arthur’s royal seat. As you do, in Arthurian times. I hope you enjoy!

A minor correction, Barbara Matera was NOT a costume designer, but a costume BUILDER. She and her company executed many, many Broadway and touring costumes, but didn’t actually design them.
Dreamgirls was designed by Theoni V. Aldrege
Mamma Mia was designed by Mark Thompson
The Lion King was designed by Julie Taymor
and Wicked was designed by Susan Hilferty.
